rigid lenses can have very light tints to improve their visibility when off the
eye & to add the patient in handling them.
Soft &
rigid lenses that alter the apparent eye color are available in cosmetic enhancement
tints for people who have lighter eye & opaque tints for people who have darker
eyes. Such lenses typically have a clear central area of about
4mm for visual purposes & a clear annular peripheral area of about 1mm which
overlays the sclera.
